Hypnosis training is best started by learning about the past and present of hypnosis itself.  The history of hypnosis reaches centuries back; it wasn’t until the 1880’s that hypnosis advanced from the ‘Dark Ages’ and into a more scientific realm.

It was then that a Scottish neurosurgeon by the name of James Braid came up with the term hypnotism.  Not only is James Braid responsible for coining the term hypnotism he is also responsible for the study that proved that hypnotism was not a product of magnetic fluids flowing through our bodies.

Braid spent time studying Animal Magnetism and Mesmerism and concluded from those studies that hypnosis could be induced by anyone as long as they followed a certain set of simple rules.

As Braid experimented and studied hypnosis he coined the term hypnosis for reasons that the subjects undergoing it looked to be sleepy.  After further study he found that one could be hypnotized and still be wide awake, at this time he attempted to change the term hypnotism to monoidealism; mono- meaning one, and idealism for the focus on a particular idea.

This term made better sense as the act of hypnosis is created by complete focus on one idea to the extent that it eventually becomes a reality for the subject.  The term monoidealism did not take and hence today hypnosis is still known as hypnosis.

She will also ask the client to describe sensory experiences (touch, taste, smell, sight and sound) and also check in with how they feel.

The therapist’s goal is to access the resources and strengths the client already has; she’ll also teach them new skills so they’re better able to cope with life’s demands. The client will be told to focus on their breathing and learn how to slow it down when they are experiencing anxiety.

The Power of Auto Suggestion

In order to carry out the therapist’s work, you will need to craft affirmations that will link from your cortex to your limbic system. These statements need to be crafted with goal-oriented language, they need to be in the present tense, and they need to use statements of faith. While more and more people are turning to quitting cigarettes with hypnosis, some are surprised to find the treatment may not have been as successful as anticipated. In this article I will share with you the three key elements to successfully quitting smoking with hypnosis permanently.

1. The smokers’ mindset. Mindset is the most crucial factor of a successful hypnosis session to stop smoking. As a smoker, you must want to quit cigarettes permanently. This may sound simple, however many people are forced to quit for reasons that lack internal belief.

In the 17th century a German physician believed that the planetary motions caused some changes in the human body. According to him the life energy was flowing through a human body from thousands of channels inside the body.

He proposed that when the flow is obstructed the person suffered from disease. So he used iron rods in his treatments because he thought this life energy was in the form of a magnetic fluid.

It never questions the ideas in this folder unless explicitly asked for. This allows the new ideas to germinate inside your mind and become a part of you. Self Hypnosis is very easy. However, most people fail to perform it simply because it never happens. They wait patiently and practice for some time regularly only to be disappointed in the end. Why?

One of the main reasons why people performing self hypnosis for the first few times never meet with success is because they expect it to happen. They wait for the magic to happen.

This is a very big mistake. You would know it if you have ever tried to “watch” when you go to sleep; it becomes very frustrating because you never go to sleep at all!
